Sorry for the lack of updates this week. I’ve been a little bit busy.
Now that we’re running up on three months since Oberon came into our lives, one thing is becoming quite dense: our Obi is denser than a neutron star. I love the little fuzzy guy, but by having him neutered, we’ve automatically raised the collective IQ of future generations of cats in this area by default. He’s fiercely loyal and lovable, and loves everyone who lives under this roof with him, but somehow he’s just missing some vital feline survival instincts, and I really question whether or not he’d still be alive if we hadn’t taken him in. Poor little furry doofus.
To make sure he does stay around, though, we’ve made an appointment to have him declawed next week. He’s a great cat to just pick up and cuddle, and he never bites or scratches unless something catches him completely off-guard. My youngest niece has a cat named “Spaz” who she hauls around like a sack of potatoes and plays with, and gives her no problems at all. Obi has great potential to be my kid’s “Spaz” – he’s got that same lovable, luggable and harmless thing going for him, and we want to keep it that way. The other kitties have taken him on board completely (though Othello still gets a bit irritated with him if the young’un is being a bit too playful).
Oberon and Othello take a break at the communal watering hole.
(The communal watering hole = Xena’s indoor water bowl when Xena’s not in the house.)
Down in front! Olivia gets in the way during daily “bird theater” at the game room window.
Olivia takes the hint…
…and wonders whose tail she can play with first and get away with it.
Strangely enough, I went to look at the sensor on my increasingly non-responsive optical mouse tonight and found a huge wad of cat hair. Surely this can only be a coincidence.
In other news, I can now officially confirm that an upcoming History Channel show called “History Rocks!” will feature some footage shot by yours truly. Originally they came to me asking about this photo that I had taken at CGE ’05, at which point I told them that I could do even better than that – I had taken video too. I also sent along directly-recorded video of a game of Pong in progress. I have no idea which they’ve used, or when the show will air. As I know more, I’ll let you know. That is, if you want to see some Pong video. This show isn’t specifically video game-oriented, so that may or may not interest you. Who knows, the piece on Pong may last something like 30 seconds.
I’ve been on a Doctor Who DVD binge lately, and loving it. I was really thrilled with The Invasion; the extra features are excellent, and while I’m kinda “ehh” on some of the animation for the re-created missing episodes, I’m okay with it ultimately. It’s an experiment, and kind of a fun one at that. The whole story is better than I remember, even though it takes 8 parts to play out.
It seems like I’ve got a million other things to say, but not enough brainpower with which to say ’em, so I’ll cut it short there.
Heh. Irony. Your mouse has hair balls.
