Okay, so it’s more than 14 hours later. Gimme a break, I’m still doing my disturbing victory dance all around the house.
This is an Avid video editing setup I just won on eBay. To find out how much I spent on it…well…just go here and see for yourself. It’s kinda like the very definition of pennies on the dollar.
This changes the whole picture as far as work goes. Remember what George Carlin said about envying dogs’ ability to lick themselves? “If I could do that, I’d never leave the house!”
More pics below.
The rather nice SVHS record/playback deck that comes with the Avid.
Avid modules, speakers, A/V distribution amp, and a rackmount 4-track recorder.
Gigantinormous 22″ VGA monitors. Funny thing is, I won’t need these – if anyone here needs some gigantinormous 22″ VGA monitors, hit me up.
VHS duplication decks. Some parts of this setup are admittedly a little bit pre-DVD-age, but the editing gear itself is what I’ve really after. Not that I can’t do some business with these, mind you.
Fairly decent broadcast monitors and a 3-D modeling/animation software package I’ve never heard of before. I suspect it’s not a patch on Lightwave, but hey, it beats a kick in the nuts.
So what am I going to do with all this? There are horse videos waiting to be made. I can finish the PDF DVD project on my own time. I can do more Flash video segments on my website (or, dare I say it, for the websites of paying customers). In fact, I could do a lot of stuff for paying customers.
Maybe so much so that I could do without the station. (I’m sure the station could do without me too, but y’know, the chaos during those first few post-Earl weeks would be entertaining to see…)
I’ll be picking this up over Columbus Day weekend. I just have to resist the urge to go start driving to Illinois NOW NOW NOW.
Cool beans! This is something you needed to have a long time ago. I’m glad you are finally getting some decent video equipment for your extracurricular activities. Soon you’ll be doing all sorts of video stuff for your in-laws! 😛 I’m just kidding, of course. Have a safe trip when you pick them up.
Oh, you laugh now, but you’d be surprised how many “big plans” have been made by people who’ll never even touch this stuff… 🙄
Massive COOL, Earl!! Nice set-up for a very nice price. Congrat’s!!! Isn’t eBay the greatest?!
I have to admit, eBay has been a huge help in my quest to find more utterly cool stuff to do with my time that very few others will find even remotely useful. But I’m not here to please those others. 😆
Oh, and welcome to the blawg, Duke!
