Babylon 5Londo returns to Centauri Prime with G’Kar serving as his bodyguard, causing a minor uproar in the royal court. Londo is correct in his fear that he may be the next target. On the station, Byron tries to force the Alliance to make reparations for the discovery that the Vorlons genetically engineered telepathy in the human race for use in the Shadow War – and threatens the security of the Alliance’s members if they do not meet his terms.

Meditations on the Abyss

Babylon 5Still concerned about the possibility of Centauri attacks on Alliance members’ borders, Delenn secretly plants Lennier aboard a White Star vessel conducting training exercises along the border regions. At the same time, Londo has an important task in mind for Vir as well – when Londo leaves to become Emperor, he wants Vir to become the Centauri ambassador to Babylon 5 and the Alliance. The Drazi ambassador comes forward with his own speculation about Centauri border raids, making Sheridan and Delenn even more tense about trying to conceal their own similar suspicions until they have proof. And Lennier’s secret mission has to be postponed when he finds himself serving with a Minbari who should never have been allowed to join the Rangers.

After failing to find a commercial exploration corporation willing to help relocate the rogue telepaths, Lyta tries to renegotiate a dangerous bargain G’Kar offered her when she first arrived at the station. And All My Dreams, Torn Asunder

Babylon 5Londo is left speechless when Sheridan reveals, in a closed session of the Alliance, the evidence Lennier recorded which confirms that Centauri ships are responsible for numerous attacks on almost every member of the Alliance. As a result, Londo delivers his government’s response – total withdrawal from the Alliance – and returns home with G’Kar in tow to try to find out why the Centauri are bringing a war upon themselves. Londo’s return is met with imprisonment. Zack discovers Garibaldi’s return to drinking, but holds his silence to try to give his former boss a chance, and Sheridan personally entrusts Garibaldi with the command of the White Star fleet in an effort to prevent the tension from escalating into a full-scale war. But unfortunately for billions of people on both sides of the conflict, Garibaldi fails both of his friends.

Movements of Fire and Shadow

Babylon 5As the Alliance worlds are plunged into yet another bloody war, this time against the might and unusual strategy of the Centauri, Sheridan asks Delenn to go to Minbar and ask the Grey Council to approve construction of more ships using the technology of the White Star fleet. After an unusual experience on Centauri Prime, Londo talks his way out of his cell and begs the Regent to stop the war before any more lives on both sides are lost – but his requests are met with cryptic and terrifying answers. Lochley finds out, almost too late, that even Babylon 5 isn’t safe from the aggression of the Centauri. Franklin and Lyta find out, just too late, that perhaps the Centauri are not fighting their own war after all. But for the Centauri homeworld, and the man who will rule it at the dawn of the next day, it is too late by far.

The Lost Tales: Voices in the Dark

Babylon 5Over Here: Col. Lochley asks a Catholic priest to come to Babylon 5 a few days before President Sheridan is to arrive for the Interstellar Alliance’s tenth anniversary celebration. A crew member who recently returned from a vacation on Earth had been complaining of hearing voices before finally barricading himself in a section of the station. The crewman, Burke, is now restrained within a security cell and claiming to be possessed by a demonic spirit. The priest is skeptical at first, suspecting mental illness or some kind of hoax. But after a demonstration of the being’s power, he is convinced. He is unsure whether or not to try to perform an exorcism immediately, or summon additional help from Earth. If he calls for help, the word of the reason will spread. And while this may cause some panic, it would also lead to a renewed purpose for a Church that has been declining toward irrelevance. The demonic being claims this is, in fact, its purpose – that it was trapped in space by God so that starfaring humans would find reason to believe. The being’s apparent eagerness to be exorcised gives Lochley and the priest pause: there is another agenda here. But denying the demon’s wish would seem to condemn Burke to suffer, and that responsibility may be too much to bear.

Over There: En route to Babylon 5 for the anniversary celebration, Sheridan begrudgingly gives an interview to ISN. He mentions his regret that Londo will not be at the celebration to represent the Centauri, but that his ship will be picking up Prince Regent Vintari, third in line to the throne. The night before the rendezvous, Galen appears to Sheridan in a dream, and shows him a vision of the destruction of New York City. In 30 years, he says, Emperor Vintari will attempt to restore the Republic’s former glory by destroying an old adversary: Earth. This can all be prevented if Sheridan will simply kill Vintari now. But when Sheridan meets the young man, who already feels trapped by the political intrigues of the Republic, he begins to doubt that he can kill a man for actions he has not yet committed.
