Season 2 Stargate Stargate Atlantis

Coup D’etat

Stargate AtlantisLadon, a Genii scientist who served under Kolya during his attempt to invade Atlantis, contacts the city asking for help in curing a disease that some of the Genii have contracted. In exchange, he offers them a much-needed ZPM. Despite reservations about dealing with the Genii again, Weir cautiously offers to do the deal after Sheppard does an investigation. The story Sheppard finds, however, is different from the one that Ladon has told – he discovers that Ladon has apparently started a rebellion within the ranks of the Genii, taking an even more ruthless stance than Cowen. Based on this information, which a conversation with Cowen himself seems to confirm, Weir decides that Ladon’s offer is a con. Sheppard hatches a new plan: he should lead a special ops team to take the ZPM from Ladon by force. But when the plan is put into action, it seems that the rumors of Ladon’s resistance have been exaggerated…though the rumors of his ruthlessness are right on the money.

Arthur’s Mantle

Stargate SG-1Mitchell finds Carter working overtime in the lab, trying to analyze a device recovered from the Ancient repository in Glastonbury. She manages to activate the device, which puts both of them out of phase and thus invisible to everyone at SGC. They hope that Daniel, who was once out of phase himself, will be able to see them, but they have no luck. Daniel’s experience does ultimately come in handy once Dr. Lee collects more information, as Daniel recognizes what’s happened to Carter and Mitchell. They work out a rudimentary form of communication using the Ancient device, which exists in both dimensions. And on Carter and Mitchell’s side, the device is a display with Merlin’s notes . . . including a gate address for a world where Merlin hid information concerning a device that could destroy ascended beings.

SGC is not uneventful during the crisis. They receive a signal from the Sodan, and Teal’c leads SG-12 to investigate. They find the Sodan village wrecked and the Sodan dead, except for a mortally wounded Haikon. The team’s efforts to return to Earth for reinforcements and medical supplies are thrwarted when the teleportation device is sabotaged; the team is attacked soon later. Teal’c realizes that their attacker is using the Sodan cloaking technology, so he cloaks himself in an effort to find the attacker. Teal’c delivers what should be a killing blow to Volnek, the warrior that Mitchell once wounded in battle. But the Sodan soon rises, looking very much undead. Haikon recovers enough to tell the SGC team that a Prior told Volnek that the Sodan would be punished for their refusal to serve the Ori. Soon after, he fell ill and began to behave irrationally; eventually he slaughtered the entire village. Mitchell decides he’s had enough of waiting around and decides to try to help Teal’c. Carter soon receives more company when Dr. Lee accidentally sends Daniel out of phase. While cloaked, Teal’c is able to see Mitchell, but he remains intangible. This makes him the perfect bait for a trap they hope will send the possessed Volnek to his final rest . . . as long as the SGC doesn’t reverse the phasing process too soon.

Michael

Stargate AtlantisLt. Michael Kenmore awakens in Atlantis, surrounded by Dr. Weir, Dr. Beckett and Colonel Sheppard. They inform him that he’s suffering from a traumatic memory blackout after being attacked by the Wraith, but that he’ll recover. When he meets more of the crew, Michael feels safe, and yet he’s troubled by dreams, visions, and impulses. He tries to pry into his own past to jog his memory, but Beckett urges him not to try to take in too much information at once. Everyone seems overprectective of Michael, except for Ronon, who attacks him without provocation. When Michael finally does dig deep enough to find out how he came to be at Atlantis, however, he learns that he’s not the man everyone has told him he is, he’s not a member of the Atlantis crew, and he’s not even human – and never has been.

Crusade

Stargate SG-1Vala’s consciousness returns to SGC, this time inhabiting Daniel’s body. Carter has found a way to reproduce the effects of the Ancient communications device, using the readings from Daniels and Vala’s previous experience. The timing could be better, since Daniel was supposed to accompany Gen. Landry to a meeting with the Russian and Chinese representatives to the IOA – a meeting where Gen. Chekov announces Russia’s intent to take back the stargate it has been loaning the SGC and begin its own program, apparently with Chinese support. Although Chekov does suggest to Landry that alternate arrangements could be made . . . perhaps involving a Deadalus-class vessel of the Russians’ very own?

But Vala has much of significance to report, and recounts her experience since she arrived in a village of Ori followers. She was rescued and taken in by Tomin, a devout follower of Origin, who believed her arrival to be a gift from the Ori. Vala tried to be inconspicuous, but that did not stop Seevis, the local strongman, from accusing her of blasphemy and chaining her to a bench in the village square for three days. That she became pregnant by apparently miraculous means did not help either, and she married Tomin so as to avoid calling furhter attention to herself. She later discovered that Seevis was testing her – he is a leader in the local resistance, and there is much resisting to be done. The Ori have built ships and recruited an army, including Vala’s husband, to destroy the nonbelievers in the Milky Way. And they are ready to launch the invasion . . . somewhere, the Ori have built a working supergate.

Inferno

Stargate AtlantisResponding to a distress call from an base built by the Ancients on the planet Taranis, Sheppard and his team find a civilization facing extinction. Rodney discovers that the Ancients’ base is built in the caldera of a dormant supervolcano, but when the locals occupied the empty facility and turned its shields on full-time, the resulting increase in geothermal energy brought the volcano back to an active state. Now, Rodney faces a conundrum – if he turns off the base’s shields, the volcanic activity will destroy it, but leaving the shields on will almost certainly trigger a major eruption that could render Taranis uninhabitable. The locals also have another treasure worth preserving – a ship almost identical to the destroyed Aurora is berthed in the base’s hangar. Sheppard and Weir’s interest in the ship arouses suspicions though, enough that the Atlantis team may not be trusted to evacuate the base. Unsure that the Aurora’s sister ship can be readied in time for a full-scale evacuation, Weir orders Colonel Caldwell to divert the Daedalus to Taranus – even though it can’t evacuate everyone. And on Atlantis, sensors warn of a lone approaching Wraith hive ship…

Camelot

Stargate SG-1SG-1 travels to Camelot, looking for the anti-Ori weapon that Merlin hid there. They find a medieval society, awaiting the return of Arthur from his quest for the Grail. Merlin’s library is forbidden territory, believed to be cursed. Daniel convinces the town historian to allow them to investigate, and they discover a lower level with Ancient technology. They also trigger the room’s safeguard, a holographic black knight similar to the one Mitchell fought on Earth – but this knight delivers lethal blows, and kills the elder. The townspeople are angry at SG-1, but the Odyssey beams them away before the people can do them any harm. The Odyssey is on its way to rendezvous with the Jaffa, the Tok’ra, and the Asgard at the Ori supergate. Carter accompanies the Odyssey, hoping to dial out with the supergate before the Ori can dial in. Teal’c takes a ship to enlist the Lucian Alliance in the battle. Mitchell and Daniel return to Camelot to look for the anti-Ori device. When Daniel again triggers the black knight, Mitchell tries to fight him off. Even with help from a sword pulled from a stone by a village girl, Mitchell comes out on the losing end. Daniel shoots the Ancient technology controlling the knight before it can kill Mitchell. He eventually figures out that the anti-Ori device is a red crystal pendant, but it is not in the library. The village governor explains that the pendant was the object of Arthur’s quest. The Korolev, the new Russian ship, beams Mitchell and Jackson aboard on its way to the supergate. There, things do not go well. The Ori dial in before Carter can modify the gate, and in the ensuing battle, the Ori’s technological superiority is clear. Not even the Asgard can get in a shot on the ships. The only remaining question is whether or not the Ori intend to leave survivors.

Allies

Stargate AtlantisAtlantis cloaks before the arrival of the hive ship, which is still en route, unaccompanied by any other Wraith ships. Daedalus and the newly-christened Ancient ship Orion lay in wait just beyond the Wraith’s sensor range. Despite the measures taken to hide Atlantis, the Wraith ship hails the city anyway, asking for Dr. Weir by name and proposing an alliance. It seems that the revival of Atlantis awakened too many Wraith, too early – and even in Atlantis there aren’t enough humans to sustain the entire species. The proposal is simple: in return for continuing to conceal Atlantis’ continued existence, Michael’s Wraith faction wants the retrovirus created by Dr. Beckett to revert Wraiths into humans – humans which the Wraith who possess the virus will then feed upon, leaving Dr. Weir and her crew alone. Weir and Beckett wrestle with the ethical implications of creating a new races of humans in the Pegasus Galaxy, only to sacrifice them to the Wraith, but as the uneasy alliance progresses, it seems that the Wraith do indeed have a larger source of food in mind…but not in Atlantis’ galaxy.

Flesh and Blood

Stargate SG-1Vala gives birth aboard the Ori cruiser, but before she can hold the baby, the child is whisked away at a Prior’s orders. A few hours later, Tomin tells her that she will be allowed to see the girl, who has already aged the equivalent of years. In order not to provoke a direct confrontation with the Ancients, the Ori have put as much of their knowledge as the human body can hold into the child, who will lead the Ori forces in our galaxy. The child knows that Vala does not believe in the Ori, but hopes to convince her otherwise. She accepts the name that Vala gives her, Adria, and tells Vala that the Ancients are lying. The Ori do ascend their followers, and the Ancients are the ones who sap the energies of humans in order to destroy the Ori.

The Ori ships have left the wreckage of the battle behind, and the survivors struggle to regroup. Carter is still stranded in her EVA suit. Mitchell wakes up aboard a fighter he managed to launch right before the Korolev was destroyed. The Odyssey is limping along, but the Asgard beaming technology is out of commission. Teal’c makes contact with the Odyssey, right before the Lucian representatives on his ship capture him and demand that the Odyssey surrender. Since the Lucian mothership also lacks weapons, it’s not much of a threat for now. Mitchell pilots the Odyssey through a manual pickup of Carter. A scan of the black box from the Korolev confirms that someone used the rings to transport before the ship exploded, giving them hope that Daniel survived.

That hope turns out to be justified, as Daniel contacts Vala aboard the Ori ship. They hatch a plan to try and take Adria off the ship and turn her against the Ori, but Vala’s husband has other plans. Gen. Landry discusses the situation with Woolsey, who says the IOA is considering bringing the Atlantis ZPM to Earth to power the Antarctica defenses. Landry thinks this may be a too-little-too-late solution, and asks Bra’tac to send ships to the battle site to assess the situation. Bra’tac arrives in time to counter a pair of Lucian reinforcements. Carter and Kvasir get the beaming technology working in time to grab Teal’c before the Lucians destroy their own wounded ship. Bra’tac announces that he is heading for Chulak, where the Ori fleet is launching a ground invasion. The rest of SG-1 goes with him to look for Daniel and to try and find a weakness in the Ori ships. In the face of almost hopeless odds, Mitchell plans for a tactical retreat in order to regroup, but Bra’tac seems intent on a noble death.

No Man’s Land

Stargate AtlantisThe Daedalus launches its fighters to slow the Wraith hive ships down before they begin their trip to Earth’s galaxy, but fighters are lost – including Sheppard’s – and Daedalus herself takes a severe pounding and limps back to Atlantis as the Wraith go into hyperspace. The Wraith won’t be able to jump from the Pegasus Galaxy to Earth in one shot, though – they’ll have to stop at a point just outside the Pegasus Galaxy to recharge before pressing on the attack. With only a narrow window in which to launch another attack, Dr. Weir orders Colonel Caldwell to take the Daedalus back into action, knowing full well that the ship and her crew stand little chance of surviving. She also orders Orion, the commandeered Ancient ship (whose systems still haven’t been thoroughly studied), to join the battle. But then Weir finds herself under attack from another front – the International Advisory Oversight summons her back to Earth. At the SGC, they accuse her of having created the problem, and of endangering Earth to try to cover her backside; with the Ori problem taking up all of Earth’s resources, no more help can be offered. When Atlantis contacts the SGC to confirm final orders from Weir, she puts her career – and Earth’s survival – on the line to order Caldwell to commence his attack as planned while the Wraith are within reach. While McKay and Ronon Dex struggle to break free from their cocoons aboard a Wraith ship, Michael finds that his own kind no longer trust him. When Michael discovers that Sheppard has tagged along by attacking his 302 fighter to the hull of a hive ship, he offers to give the humans an advantage – but trust in Michael is at an all-time low on Sheppard’s end of things too.

Morpheus

Stargate SG-1Daniel determines that Morgana Le Fey may be connected to Merlin’s anti-Ancient device; he speculates that Morgana might have been another descended Ancient who feared the potential of Merlin’s weapon and therefore tried to hide it. Daniel also uses the legend of Sir Gawain to help narrow the search for the three lands that Arthur supposedly traveled to in his search for the Grail. He finds a gate address in one of the books recovered from Merlin’s library in Camelot. SG-1 gets a go to explore the planet, but Vala must remain behind. Even though Landry is inclined to let her work with SGC because of her past sacrifices and her connection to Adria, Vala must pass a psychiatric exam in order to assuage any concerns from the Pentagon.

On the planet, SG-1 discovers a village that seems deserted – until they find a couple deceased in their beds. A medical officer gates in to examine the bodies, with two officers who have not had time to rest from their last mission. The team heads into nearby caves to explore, but finds nothing. They decide to call it a night and head home, until they realize that one of the escort officers has fallen asleep – and isn’t waking up again. The doctor confirms that they are all affected by some kind of mysterious condition, one that ensures that if they fall asleep, they won’t wake up. Even worse, the condition is making all of them even more tired.

At SGC, Vala’s efforts to outwit the psych test only dig her in deeper. More and more frustrated, she begins to think there is no chance that she will pass. Woolsey arrives with an offer from the IOA – the advisory council is not sure that SGC is being fully open about their operations. So the IOA is prepared to ensure that Vala passes the examination . . . if she agrees to report back to the IOA on the goings-on of the Stargate program.

They’re settled on a planet without a gate, but Beckett insists on staying with them to ensure that they’re healthy. Michael is also given a new dose of the retrovirus, reverting him to his fully human form and robbing him of his memory again. In the meantime, Dr. Weir is returned to Atlantis with the IOA’s Woolsey in tow, still investigating her command and looking for any reason to relieve her of it. Season 10 SG-1 Stargate

The Pegasus Project

Stargate SG-1The Odyssey brings Daniel, Carter, Mitchell and Vala to Atlantis while on a supply run. For Daniel, this is the end of a frequently-interrupted journey, but he can not take much time to savor the experience. He is in search of the other two planets where Arthur searched for Merlin’s anti-Ori weaponry. Weir shows him and Vala to the holographic interface for the Atlantis database.

Mitchell and Carter bring McKay back to the Odyssey to help with the other part of their plan. Carter theorizes that they can not get the Ori supergate to dial out because it is set to receive incoming wormholes from outside the Milky Way. They want to release a stargate near a black hole, and use that gate to dial another stargate which Teal’c has deployed near the supergate. Once this wormhole is established, they will set off thermonuclear charges in an effort to make the wormhole jump from Teal’c’s gate to the supergate. McKay thinks the plan is ridiculous, but he agrees to help Carter attempt to make the necessary calculations. Before they launch, Sheppard provides Mitchell a few tips on managing McKay’s sometimes-prickly personality.

Daniel’s methodical exploration of the database frustrates Vala, who suggests that they simply ask the database where the planets are. To appease her, Daniel does so, and is surprised when he receives a prompt reply. He suspects something is wrong – an old database should not be able to make the necessary translations as quickly as this is. He soon realizes that he is not speaking to a holographic interface – he is talking to an Ancient. Morgana Le Fay, in fact. While Morgana once opposed Merlin’s efforts to build his weapon, she now agrees that something must be done to stop the Ori. Daniel is not satisfied; he urges Morgana and the other Ancients to get off the sidelines and help prevent the Ori from dominating the Milky Way and beyond. But when Morgana tries to provide another bit of information, the other Ancients pull her away. They will not intervene.

On the Odyssey, the initial attempts are unsuccessful. McKay theorizes that it may take a sequence of charges to provide enough power to jump the wormhole. But before they can finish their test of the theory, they have a larger problem. Atlantis has detected a Wraith hive ship heading for the black hole, and the black hole is keeping the Odyssey‘s sensors from detecting it. Atlantis tries to relay a message to Odyssey through Stargate Command and Teal’c, but Teal’c has his own problems – one of the Ori vessels has come to check on the supergate.

Irresistible

Stargate AtlantisA team led by Sheppard begins a survey of worlds with stargates, hoping to put a plan of McKay’s in motion to build a network of spaceborne gates between galaxies that would cut travel time between Earth and Atlantis to mere hours. Their first stop brings them to a peaceful colony where everyone looks up to the friendly (and large) Lucius, a man with a penchant for telling tall tales. After spending some time in his company, even Dr. Beckett begins to sing Lucius’ praises, and in a huge break with standing orders he brings Lucius through the stargate to Atlantis. Weir is more than a little bit annoyed with this breach of protocol, but eventually she comes to appreciate Lucius’ charms too. Even Teyla and the normally gruff Ronon enjoy his company. The only ones who seem immune to him are McKay and Sheppard, who begin investigating the pull Lucius has with nearly everyone he meets. Sheppard is able to keep giving Lucius the cold shoulder because he himself is suffering from a cold. But when Lucius begins convincing the crew to go on dangerous missions for him, giving him the Ancient gene therapy and even give him a puddle jumper, Sheppard begins trying to spread a few germs of his own.

Insiders

Stargate SG-1Exploration teams are having trouble making any headway on the two worlds identified by Morgan in Atlantis. Daniel has returned to Camelot to look for clues in Merlin’s library. The rest of the team is somewhat surprised when an uncloaked Alkesh heads right into Cheyenne airspace. After Landry orders it shot down, SG-1 heads to the crash site to discover that the ship bears a Ba’al, claiming to be the original and offering a deal. Ba’al believes that the location of the anti-Ori weapon can be found at one of the stargate addresses O’Neill learned from the Ancient repository the first time he encountered it. If SGC will kill the rest of his clones – whom Ba’al says have turned against him – then Ba’al will tell them how to find the weapon.

Agent Barrett arrives to request that SGC turn Ba’al over to the NID for questioning, in order to help gather intelligence about the Goa’uld infiltration of the Trust. But the hunt for Merlin’s weapon takes priority, so SG-1 and several other teams capture a number of clones and return them to the SGC. When Barrett has an uncharacteristic loss of patience, it provides an opportunity for one of the clones to escape. Dr. Lee attempts to rig up a system to dispense symbiote poison through the ventilation systems, but in the time it takes to coordinate that effort, the clones demonstrate some impressive coordination of their own, as the Goa’uld’s real agenda becomes clear.

Sateda

Stargate AtlantisA routine visit to a planet through the stagate is cut short when, instead of being open to trade, the locals call Ronon Dex a “Wraithbringer” and attack Sheppard’s party. McKay takes an arrow through the leg but still manages to return to Atlantis through the gate, but the others are hit by tranquilizer darts and taken captive. Apparently, Ronon has been here before, when he still had the runner implant that allowed the Wraith to track him; when the locals took him in on that occasion, the Wraith laid waste to their village in their hunt for him. The leader of the village, who lost his daughter in that attack, was given a homing device by the Wraith in the event their prey has returned, and he has already called them to retrieve Ronon. Ronon responds to this by threatening to kill himself before the Wraith arrive, unless the villagers release Sheppard and Teyla and let them return to Atlantis. By the time Sheppard can return with a full strike team, the village has been razed once more, and Ronon has been abducted. The Wraith implant another tracking device in Ronon, return him to his homeworld of Sateda, and begin the hunt again. But Ronon proves to be hard to kill – and when Sheppard tries to pull him out before he has settled his scores with the Wraith, Ronon can be even harder to rescue.
