Star Trek: Deep Space NineStardate 47573.1: Surveying planets in the Gamma Quadrant for potential colonization by the Federation, Sisko and O’Brien discover a world which is already inhabited by humans – to be precise, survivors of a Starfleet shipwreck who have been living on the other side of the wormhole for over a decade. Led by the charismatic Alixus, the survivors have had to rely on basic skills to stay alive, since an energy field prevents any form of technology from functioning. Alixus presses Sisko and O’Brien to abandon any hope of rescue and stay with the colony, but when the two refuse to give up so easily, they discover that their hostess is not above relying on the darkest tactics to convince them…

Star Trek: The Next GenerationStardate 47611.2: Counselor Troi returns from her Academy class reunion to find Dr. Crusher in charge of the bridge, and begins wondering about the possibility of achieving her own position in the ship’s chain of command. Crusher, for her part, is on watch while Data is away in a shuttlecraft retrieving radioactive fragments of a destroyed space probe. Data’s shuttle crashes on a world inhabited by relatively primitive humanoids, and his radioactive cargo disrupts his ability to access his memory of who he is or where he is from. Data wanders into the nearest village carrying the case of hazardous materials, with which he unwittingly contaminates everyone. The only hope for the locals is for Data to restore his memory.

Star Trek: Deep Space NineStardate 47603.3: Detecting the emissions of a matter/antimatter reactor from an uncharted planet in the Gamma Quadrant, Dax and Odo beam down into a village whose simple inhabitants have been disappearing without a trace or any kind of explanation. At first the visitors from the Runabout are prime suspects, but once they prove that they have nothing to do with the series of disappearances, Dax and Odo are entrusted with the task of finding the guilty party. However, someone else in the village already knows the answer to the puzzle – the one person who is guaranteed not to vanish.

Star Trek: The Next GenerationStardate 47615.2: Studying an ancient comet at close range, the crew of the Enterprise becomes aware of strange objects appearing on board. An unexplained surge of energy affects the ship’s computer systems and Data as well. The comet is revealed to be an archaic spaceborne artifact of a bygone alien civilization. The Enterprise’s computer is filled with symbols and hieroglyphics whose meanings are known only to Data, though he has never before encountered anything like them. Soon, Data himself is transformed, exhibiting a number of personalities from the alien archive. The ship’s computer and even parts of the ship itself transform themselves into objects whose function can only be deduced by studying the alien civilization. But by the time Picard and the others can gain an understanding of what has taken control of their ship, the Enterprise and Data will be transformed into an ancient alien temple – and its resident goddess.

In the course of their bumpy relationship – based on the fact that the candidate prepared himself to be in the company of Curzon Dax and not Jadzia – they pick up something unusual from the wormhole and bring it back to the station for study, not realizing that it will begin expanding rapidly until it threatens to consume the station…and the space beyond.

Star Trek: The Next GenerationStardate 47622.1: A young officer recently posted to the Enterprise commits suicide by leaping into an energy stream in one of the ship’s warp nacelles. Trying to find out why, Troi begins investigating the last days of the deceased by speaking to his friends and co-workers, and eventually winds up surveying the warp nacelle post, where she experiences an inexplicable emotional upheaval which may be an echo left by the partially empathic officer’s final burst of feelings and thoughts. She tries to probe this psionic artifact for its true meaning, and uncovers a betrayal which is older than anyone realizes.

She turns out to be Natima, a member of the Cardassian anti-military underground and an old lover of Quark’s from seven years ago. Her ship has been damaged while trying to escape from the Cardassians with her precious cargo: followers of her pacifist movement. Quark is overjoyed to see Natima again, but her own enthusiasm about the reunion seems much more restrained. Garak, the station’s only remaining resident Cardassian, is also happy to see Natima – but only in the same way that a hunter revels at the sight of prey…

The cause of this condition is a virus which has now infected Picard, leaving him and Data very little time to reverse the plight of the crew.

Star Trek: The Next GenerationStardate 47751.2: Wesley Crusher, on a sabattical from Starfleet Academy, has returned to the Enterprise in an attempt to recoup his energies in time to graduate. He is troubled by something which he has yet to reveal to anyone, but more pressing matters are on the mind of Picard and the crew as Starfleet orders the Enterprise to evacuate or otherwise remove a colony of Native American Indians who have settled on an isolated planet to preserve their culture. This planet is now due to be handed over to the Cardassians according to the terms of a treaty which realigns the borders of Federation and Cardassian space, and the Indian colonists will no longer be welcome. Tired of their history of being displaced by territorial bureaucracy, the Indians of Dorvin V decide to reshape the borders themselves to protect what they hold sacred – and they find a sympathizer in Wesley, who jeopardizes his Starfleet career to help them and learn more about them.

The Maquis – Part I

Star Trek: Deep Space NineStardate not given: A Cardassian ship is destroyed moments after leaving dock at DS9, and evidence is discovered pointing to sabotage – committed not by Bajorans, but by someone in the Federation. Gul Dukat arrives on the station, telling Sisko that things are heating up along the recently realigned Cardassian/Federation border, along which a demilitarized zone has been erected. Also present on the station is the Federation attache’ to the Federation colonies on the border, Commander Hudson, who also happens to be an old friend of Sisko. Dukat and Sisko travel to one of the border colonies, witnessing a furious battle between Federation and Cardassian colonists’ vessels along the way. On arrival, they discover that the human responsible for the destruction of the Cardassian vessel has been captured on DS9, interrogated and then killed, enraging the human colonists. After returning to the station, Dukat is kidnapped and taken from the station. A message is received from a group who call themselves the Maquis, claiming responsibility for the abduction. Sisko, Kira and Bashir track down the ship that must have taken Dukat from the station, and Sisko discovers that Hudson, who has voiced sympathies for the displaced Federation colonists, is the leader of the colonists in their war against their Cardassian neighbors.

Star Trek: The Next GenerationStardate 47779.4: As Alexander nears the age where he must decide whether or not to become a warrior, Worf grows worried that the boy will choose to shed all vestiges of Klingon heritage. Visiting a Klingon outpost during a festival, Worf and Alexander are cornered by a gang of street thugs. As Worf manages to fight most of them off, the fight is ended by a Klingon who calls himself K’mtar, a bodyguard appointed by Worf’s brother Kurn. K’mtar reveals that the attack was not random, but an assassination attempt planned by Lursa and B’etor, who are still scheming to someday overthrow the Empire. With the help of K’mtar, and some gossip courtesy of Quark, the Enterprise is off to track down the Duras sisters when it becomes evident that someone is trying to tamper with future affairs.

The Maquis – Part II

Star Trek: Deep Space NineStardate not given: The Cardassian Central Command is up in arms about the abduction of Gul Dukat, and Hudson has declared his intention to help the Maquis with all his resources. A visit from a high representative of Cardassia puzzles Sisko when he declares that Dukat is responsible for smuggling weapons into the demilitarized zone and, if returned to Cardassia, will be executed. Sisko goes after Dukat, rescuing him from the Maquis and sending a message to Hudson through renegade colonist Amaros. Dukat, as it happens, has been kept in the dark, and agrees to help Sisko prove the source of the Cardassian colonists’ arms in exchange for Sisko’s help in bringing Maquis violence to a halt. A captured Vulcan members of the Maquis reveals a plan to attack a hidden Cardassian weapons depot, and Sisko launches DS9’s fleet of Runabouts to intercept the Maquis’ two vessels. Sisko is pressured by Starfleet and Dukat to hunt Hudson down and stop him at any cost to prevent a full-scale war.

Bloodlines

Star Trek: The Next GenerationStardate 47829.1: Picard receives a threat from his old Ferengi adversary DaiMon Bok, who still blames Picard for the death of his son in the first encounter between the Federation and the Ferengi. Bok announces his intent to kill Jason Vigo to avenge his loss, and the threat disturbs Picard. After tracking Jason down, Picard is stunned when genetic tests confirm that Jason is the son of Picard and a woman from his past. Jason turns out to be a rebellious young man with a record of misdemeanors involving theft and trespassing and a passion for rock climbing. Bok continues to mysteriously get through the Enterprise’s defenses to threaten Jason’s life, until he finally kidnaps Jason and has his opportunity for vengeance.

The Wire

Star Trek: Deep Space NineStardate not given: During a lunchtime disagreement with Bashir over the relative merits of Cardassian literature, Garak begins to loose his plain, simple demeanor and concerns Bashir immensely. Garak finally collapses, and Bashir discovers the source of the mysterious Cardassian’s ailment – some kind of implant is connected to his brain. Quark, having been contacted by Garak to acquire something related to his problem, stumbles across the party responsible for the implant – Cardassia’s Obsidian Order, a feared secret police organization which has been known to obtain information by means even darker than the Cardassian military’s interrogators. Bashir risks delving into the mysteries of the Obsidian Order in a race against time to find a cure for Garak – and perhaps to learn some of his secrets.
