Seeing his father’s dejected mood, Jake resolves to do something for him to cheer him up. With Nog’s help, he bids on an antique baseball card at an auction, but is outbid by Dr. Giger, an eccentric scientist. Jake is still determined to get the card. After all, how hard can it be?

Star Trek: Deep Space NineStardate not given: In their commandeered Jem’Hadar warship, crippled and under attack, Sisko and crew take refuge in a nebula where they crash on a planet which is deserted – except for a troop of Jem’Hadar who have also crashed there. Their Vorta supervisor, Keevan, has been severely injured, and their supply of Ketracel-white has dwindled to one vial. When Garak and Nog are captured, Keevan arranges a trade for Sisko and Bashir, who is able to treat the Vorta. In exchange, Keevan makes a proposal which will enable Sisko and crew to survive–but not without a moral dilemma. Meanwhile, on Terok Nor, Kira finds it increasingly difficult to maintain neutrality.

Star Trek: Deep Space NineStardate 51597.2: Worf and Dax are sent out together in a runabout to contact Lasaran, a Cardassian who has been passing information to Starfleet and is considered a vital source of intelligence on the Dominion. When Lasaran asks for aid in defecting to the Federation, Worf and Dax agree to pick him up at a rendezvous point on Sukara, a planet with a Dominion base. As they trek together through a jungle, Dax is critically wounded by a Jem’Hadar patrol, and Worf must make the choice of whether to complete the mission or save his wife’s life. Back on the station, O’Brien persuades Bashir to try and break Quark’s winning streak at Tongo.

The Valiant

Star Trek: Deep Space NineStardate 51825.4: Just after leaving a starbase with a diplomatic message for the Grand Nagus, a runabout carrying Nog and Jake is attacked by Jem’Hadar fighters, but the two are rescued by the USS Valiant, a Defiant-class ship manned by a crew of Red Squad cadets who were out on a training cruise when the war broke out. Nog is made Chief Engineer by Captain Watters, who plans to complete the Valiant’s mission of obtaining technical data on a Dominion battleship. Once this is accomplished, however, Watters decides to destroy the battleship – which may be a fatal mistake.

Star Trek: Deep Space NineStardate 51948.3: The Defiant is returning from convoy duty when it picks up a distress call from a Starfleet captain, Lisa Cusack, who was marooned on a class L world in the Rutharian sector when her ship crashed there. She is alone, with only a limited supply of tri-ox to help her breathe. After a two-way link is finally established, the Defiant officers take turns keeping Captain Cusack company while they speed to the rescue. They end up revealing some of their deepest thoughts and fears to her, as she gives them counsel. Meanwhile, Quark contrives to ensure that Odo is distracted during an important smuggle.

Sisko advises Bashir that this might be a good way to learn more about Section 31 as well. At the conference, Sloan tells Bashir that he is to diagnose Chairman Koval of the Tal Shiar, who is suspected to have a disease called Tuvan syndrome. Believing that Sloan may be planning to use the disease as a cover to assassinate Koval, Bashir has no one to turn to except a Romulan senator.

Star Trek: Deep Space NineStardate not given: Kai Winn has another vision, and is horrified when the beings she thought were the Prophets instead identify themselves as the pagh-wraiths, and urge her to embrace their path. “Anjohl” too reveals his allegiance (although not his identity), and Winn is faced with the choice of stepping down as Kai. Meanwhile, Damar is increasingly disturbed and frustrated by the Dominion alliance with the Breen, and by Weyoun’s continued insistence on casually making decisions concerning Cardassia without consulting him. And Worf and Ezri have been taken to Cardassia to await trial and execution.

Tacking Into The Wind

Star Trek: Deep Space NineStardate not given: Kira decides on a bold plan to steal one of the Breen energy-dissipating weapons so that Starfleet can study it and come up with a countermeasure. With a team consisting of herself, Garak, Damar, Rusot and Odo, she gets aboard a Jem’Hadar ship. But there are complications – they must wait for the Breen weapon to be installed, Rusot’s hatred for Kira is growing, and Odo has been trying to conceal the true extent of his illness.
Meanwhile, Gowron has been ordering Martok on several suicidal attacks, as part of a design to undermine Martok politically, yet Martok refuses Worf’s advice to challenge Gowron. And Bashir and O’Brien formulate a plan to lure a Section 31 operative to DS9.

The Dogs Of War

Star Trek: Deep Space NineStardate 52861.3: Sisko takes command of a new Defiant-class ship, with special dispensation to rename it from the Sao Paulo to the Defiant; while on Cardassia, the Female Changeling and Weyoun decide to withdraw in order to replenish their ships and troops. Meanwhile, Kira, Damar, and Garak arrive at Cardassia Prime for a meeting, only to learn that they have been betrayed. Kira and the others are forced to hide in the cellar of Garak’s boyhood home, where they learn from Mila that Damar is becoming a legend among the ordinary Cardassian civilians. On DS9, Quark receives a static-garbled message from Grand Nagus Zek, saying that he plans to retire and move to Risa with Ishka, and that he is coming to DS9 to name his successor. Believing that he will be the next Grand Nagus, Quark is disgusted to learn of all the reforms Zek has been making due to Ishka’s influence, and plans to reverse them as soon as he is in power. And Bashir and Ezri Dax finally address their feelings for each other.

Survival Instinct

Star Trek: VoyagerStardate 53049.2: Voyager docks at a gigantic Markonian space station and the crew engage in cultural exchanges with the station’s population. While some of these exchanges cause security headaches for Tuvok – including petty crimes and Tom and Harry’s ill-fated night on the town – the greater threat goes unnoticed. Three individuals who were formerly Borg drones – fellow members of Seven of Nine’s unimatrix – slip aboard, attempting to force a connection with her. Survivors of a Borg scout vessel crash over five years before Seven joined Voyager, the three suffer a constant neural link forcing them to share every thought. Despite their individuality, they cannot explain this connection. But when Seven decides to assist them in retreiving lost memories, she discovers that she is responsible for the former drones’ condition…and must now decide whether they should be returned to the Collective to extend their lives, or enjoy freedom at last for a few brief weeks.
