Red DwarfAn abandoned space station is discovered in the path of an oncoming asteroid storm, leaving the Red Dwarf crew mere hours to salvage any useful advanced technology from it. Kryten and Rimmer find what they believe to be the station’s highly sophisticated medibot, and ask it to return to Red Dwarf with them. Lister and Cat, in the meantime, have stumbled across the real medibot, now insane after millennia of isolation, and it proceeds to anesthetize them and steal Lister’s kidney. As Kryten is a mechanoid and Rimmer’s made of light, the only possible donor to replace Lister’s kidney is Cat. But Cat doesn’t feel like being an organ donor, and the robot rescued from the space station finally admits that it’s a snack machine incapable of performing medical procedures.

Star Wars: RebelsWord reaches the Rebellion that there’s a dissident faction among students at an Imperial flight school, wishing to defect. Since she has prior experience as an Imperial pilot trainee, Sabine is enrolled at the school with a new identity and a cover story, and meets three pilots who want to escape the Empire and join the Rebellion. Sabine engineers an escape plan, but the Empire, aware that there are traitors in their midst and aware that a Rebel agent is among their trainees, has already planned to stop them. Ezra’s impatience to get Sabine and her trio of defectors to safety is as much of a danger to the operation as the Empire.

WestworldNew players arrive at Westworld, ready to try their hand at lawless frontier life. William, coaxed into visiting Westworld by his wife’s brother, is reluctant to indulge in the seedier side of the park’s offerings, whereas most of the park’s typical storylines and diversions are simply too tame for his brother-in-law, who urges him to go “black hat”. A chance exchange between Dolores and Maeve fills Maeve’s head with strange thoughts, and like Dolores, she begins remembering past scenarios that have supposedly been wiped from her memory. Westworld’s board of directors grows restless about return business, and an ambitious young scenarist devises and proposes a new plotline for the park, which Ford promptly shoots down on the ground that obvious, tawdry thrills are not what Westworld is about. As she is being cleaned and prepared for another day’s duty in the park, Maeve awakens in a strange new world – one in which she sees fellow hosts being treated like objects.

Return Of The Caped Crusaders

BatmanThe Riddler, the Penguin, Catwoman and the Joker hijack Gotham’s most-watched TV variety show simply to signal their latest crime wave. Batman and Robin follow leads and pursue the criminals, but Catwoman thinks she knows how to sway Batman to their side, using a potent chemical concoction that will do away with Batman’s urge to do good. The chemical doesn’t work until after Batman has rounded up the quartet of criminals, but when its effects do kick in, Batman suddenly installs himself as the ruler of Gotham City, relieving the police of their duties and allowing anarchy to reign. Alfred is fired, and Aunt Harriet is sent away in tears. Robin is about to go it alone against his mentor when he decides to enlist Catwoman’s reluctant help instead. But how can Robin fight the man who taught him everything he knows about fighting crime?

Red DwarfA Space Corps deep space exploration vehicle is found tumbling through space, a short distance away from an asteroid belt that will almost certainly destroy it. As the Red Dwarf crew approaches aboard Starbug, an automated system aboard the Space Corps ship begins bio-printing a crew, except that there’s a bit of a paper jam. As the ship drifts into the asteroid field, Rimmer panics and fires a missile, which saves the ship almost by accident, and earns Rimmer a field promotion to officer from the bio-printed commander of the rescued ship. Rimmer wastes no time in instituting a class system, reserving officer perks entirely for himself, including access to the bio-printer, which he uses to create a crew of fellow Rimmers.

Star Wars: RebelsHera and the crew of the Ghost race to rescue Hera’s father, Chaim Syndulla, and his inner circle of revolutionaries from an Imperial garrison on Hera’s home planet. Where previous Imperial attacks there have been hit-or-miss, Chaim Syndulla now says that there is a new focus and ferocity in their actions. Hera enlists the help of her friends to retrieve a personal item from the palace, only to discover that the Empire is more deeply entrenched there than previously believed. Grand Admiral Thrawn himself has taken personal command, and knows exactly who Hera and Ezra are. Now, if Hera’s father does not surrender himself to the Empire, Hera and Ezra will pay the price unless they can outwit Thrawn.

The Stray

WestworldHaving spent a day in Westworld, William finally gets into character and shoots down a bandit, discovering in the process that he himself can’t be killed, even if he’s shot. Dolores and Maeve continue remembering brutal past incidents that they should be incapable of remembering. Bernard confronts Ford about the odd behavior of some of the hosts, learning that Ford’s original partner, a man named Arnold, tried to imbue the hosts with true consciousness, but died in the park before he could succeed, with all records of the incident scrubbed from Westworld’s official history. Ford develops a new narrative of his own, involving a hunt for a savage outlaw named Wyatt, while two Westworld employees go searching for a “stray” host who has mysteriously gone off-program. Dolores also breaks free of her programming, tired of being brutalized by visitors, discovering in the process that they can be killed.

Red DwarfA bout of forgetfulness triggers a mid-life crisis for Kryten, who has been online for three million years and change. He tries to outfit himself with a newer, more aerodynamic casing that has everything but go-faster stripes, to no avail. Lister has a solution: seek out a mechanoid-equipped ship launched at roughly the same time as the ship on which Kryten was found, and go see how that mechanoid is doing. He hopes to show Kryten that he has evolved well beyond his original programming. But when they find a suitable derelict ship and meet its mechanoid, Butler, it’s clear that he, too, has evolved since the demise of the crew he once served, and his become a brilliant polymath (whereas Kryten is still serving Lister meals). This does little to ease Kryten’s crisis.

Black MirrorSocial media “ratings”, bestowed by friends, strangers and random passerby alike, are as much currency as actual money, determining not just social standing, but what kind of jobs and housing are available. Smiles are everyday attire, worn to avoid “downvotes” for being considered surly or impolite. Lacie Pound, hovering between 4.0 and 4.5 out of 5, “upvotes” everyone she meets; it’s the polite thing to do, and it’s expected. At home, however, she is stuck living in a small house with her brother, but Lacie is eyeing a more upscale residence – one that she can only afford if she reaches a steady 4.5 social media rating, qualifying her for a discount. The opportunity to boost her profile appears in the form of an invitation to be the maid of honor at a childhood friend’s wedding…but does Lacie even have the necessary clout to make the trip?

Black MirrorFor Cooper, trying to escape from the stress of his home life with his mother means quietly leaving without a word to travel the world. From Australia to Spain to England, Cooper’s carefree voyage of self-discovery is almost over. His mother keeps calling, and Cooper keeps declining her call. He hooks up with a British video game journalist named Sonja, a fortuitous meeting since it appears that he’s maxed out his credit card and can’t buy a ticket back to the States. Sonja points him toward a paid playtesting opportunity that should provide Cooper with the money he needs to get home. The game in question is an augmented reality horror experience that draws upon the player’s own memory to conjure his worst fears. From spiders to childhood bullies to a decidedly more deadly version of Sonja, Cooper is scared out of his wits and wants the game to end. But the damage may already be done: the lines between reality and the game are blurred, and Cooper may never see the real world again.

Shut Up And Dance

Black MirrorKenny lives a very average teenage life, but within that lies a particularly disturbing vice – one which comes back to haunt him when an unidentified hacker e-mails Kenny video from his own computer’s webcam. The hacker, now communicating with Kenny via text message, informs him that he will be “activated” at some point in the future, and must follow instructions to avoid a leak of the webcam video that will ruin Kenny’s life. When Kenny does receive instructions, he finds himself encountering a succession of others who are being similarly blackmailed, each receiving their own instructions via text message. Kenny and Hector, a middle-aged man whose own indiscretions have left him vulnerable to blackmail, are instructed to rob a bank. As Hector follows instructions to dispose of their getaway car, Kenny’s next orders make him wonder how much worse things are going to get for him.

For Tonight We Might Die

ClassShadows stalk the students of Coal Hill School in Shoreditch, London. For some, it’s the shadow of loneliness, while for others, it’s the shadow of their parents’ expectations and lack of understanding. For Charlie, however, it’s a more literal threat, an alien race called the Shadow Kin who wiped out the entire species he ruled over as its prince. A soldier of a rival species, the Quill, is beholden to protect him for the rest of his life. Rescued from the last days of the Shadow Kin’s genocide against Charlie’s people by a time traveler called the Doctor, Charlie and “Mrs. Quill” are quietly dropped into Coal Hill School as enigmatic student and short-fused teacher. The Doctor believed both of them could learn much from each other, and from humanity. But when the Shadow Kin rip open a tear in the fabric of space and time, allowing them to run riot at Coal Hill on prom night, time may be up for Charlie, for Mrs. Quill, and for the entire human race unless the Doctor intervenes again.

The Coach With The Dragon Tattoo

ClassRam is having difficulty adjusting to the artificial leg given to him by the Doctor to replace the leg severed by the Shadow Kin. His once-promising soccer performance suffers as a result, but psychologically he’s still suffering from the trauma of seeing the Shadow Kin on a killing rampage. As he changes after soccer practice, he’s convinced he sees evidence of another horrifying death, but can’t do anything about it. Later, he witnesses an otherworldly being snatch a cleaning lady from the school grounds, but can’t prove it happened. Worried that Ram is becoming increasingly isolated from them, Charlie, April and Tanya take their case to Mr. Armitage, only to see him snatched away by the same being Ram saw earlier. They turn to Miss Quill for protection, but she is preoccupied – almost obsessed – with an “observer” sitting in on her classes.

Can Of Worms

Red DwarfAboard Starbug, Lister and the others find a promising derelict ship on the edge of a black hole. But when Rimmer warns that it could be a trap set by Gelf Vampires who feast on the blood of virgins, Cat is suddenly less enthusiastic about the salvage operation. Lister decides to board the ship, with Cat and Kryten in tow, and they disable a mercenary mechanoid and free his sole surviving prisoner, who seems to be a female Cat. Once she is brought back aboard Red Dwarf, and expresses more than a passing interest in Cat, Kryten discovers only too late that their new crewmate is not what she appears to be, and Cat could pay the price.

Nightvisiting

ClassDaddy’s home. That comes as a bit of a shock to Tanya, since it happens on the second anniversary of his death. And he’s not quite the same – maybe it’s the constant pleading for her to take his hand, or maybe it’s the vine-like root connected to his back, snaking out the window and connecting to a network of similar tendrils, all of them connected to others who have apparently risen from the dead. Ram sees his late girlfriend and runs rather than trying to reconnect with her, meeting up with April in the process.
