Space Warp

Space: 1999Commander Koenig and Tony Verdeschi depart in an Eagle to board and investigate a derelict starship spotted near the moon’s path. At roughly the same time that ship was detected, Maya fell ill, suffering from a high fever and flashbacks of the destruction of her home planet of Psychon. But before Koenig and Verdeschi finish receiving the latest update on Maya’s condition, they’re horrified when they hear cries of panic from Moonbase Alpha – and watch helplessly as the moon disappears into a space warp. As the Alpha crew recovers from their rough trip, Maya loses control, morphs into a monster, attacks Dr. Russell and escapes from the sick bay. Five light years behind the moon, Koenig and Verdeschi try unsuccessfully to pilot the Eagle into the same wormhole that carried the moon away, unaware that the creature Maya has morphed into may kill the entire crew before they can find a way back.

Star Trek: VoyagerStardate not given: Voyager is struck by a forceful energy field which does little damage and deposits information in the ship’s computer. Janeway decides to investigate the source of the energy wave, finding a badly damaged ship with a curious, non-humanoid life form aboard. The creature attaches itself to B’Elanna, nearly killing her in the process, and the Doctor is unable to remove the creature without destroying its victim. The Doctor creates a hologram of famed Cardassian exobiologist Krell Mocet to assist in the desperate fight to save B’Elanna, but both B’Elanna and a young Bajoran crewmember remember Mocet for his war atrocities during the Bajoran occupation. Making matters worse, the slowly dying B’Elanna forbids the Doctor to allow Mocet’s assistance in a surgery that could save her life. The question of whether a former torturer’s research should be used to save one crewmember soon divides the crew.

Demon Quest Part 4: Starfall

Doctor WhoThe TARDIS brings the Doctor, Mrs. Wibbsey and Mike Yates to New York City in the bicentennial summer of 1976, where they encounter a young couple: a man worrying about his girlfriend, who touched a recently-fallen meteorite. When the young woman regains consciousness, she has something that can only be described as super powers, though this development irritates her employer, a past-her-prime movie star who needs help organizing her memoirs. As “Miss Starfall”‘s powers increase, a cult dressed like the Doctor – floppy hats, scarves and all – begin to exert their own influence, apparently using the final missing piece of the spatial geometer from the Doctor’s TARDIS as their sacred totem. The Demon that the Doctor has been chasing through time shows its hand at last – but only just before it claims a hostage from the TARDIS and escapes through time again.

Doctor WhoThe Doctor and Mike Yates follow the Demon back to its home planet in an attempt to rescue the kidnapped Mrs. Wibbsey. Once there, they discover in whose stead the Demon has been acting all along: the alien swarm of hornets that the Doctor defeated a year ago has rebuilt itself, and wants its queen freed. To find where the Doctor stranded the Queen, the hornets – through the Demon and the possessed Mrs. Wibbsey – have created a sepulchre, loaded with neural interfaces, into which the Doctor will be placed to create an Atlas of All Time from his memories. Since he is considered helpless, Mike Yates is left unguarded, but how can he save both of his friends and defeat what seems to be an enemy who has anticipated every move?

Doctor WhoThe TARDIS lands in Norway, 2018, near a cabin that seems to be abandoned; when Ryan catches a fleeting glimpse of someone inside the house, they decide to investigate, finding a blind girl hiding in a wardrobe. Her father is missing, and she lives in fear of creatures that she hears lurking outside. Those same sounds drive the time travelers into the house for shelter, and they discover a mirror that isn’t what it seems to be, but is instead a portal to another dimension. The Doctor, Graham and Yaz go through the portal to investigate, leaving Ryan to watch over the girl at the house. Soon, he discovers that she’s not exactly helpless, and the howling sounds coming from outside aren’t coming from vicious creatures. The Doctor, Yaz and Graham find themselves in a near-exact copy of the house they just left, complete with the girl’s missing father – and the mother who she said was dead. The Doctor can say nothing to convince him to leave this dimension, not even for the sake of his own daughter…and worse yet, Grace appears to Graham, trying to convince him to stay as well.

Doctor WhoNotes: Kevin Eldon is an old hand at Doctor Who and science fiction in general, though his prior Doctor Who role wasn’t on television: he starred as the seventh Doctor’s robotic companion Antimony in the animated audio drama Death Comes To Time in 2001, a production that – in the absence of new television episodes – sought to rewrite some of the ground rules of the series (including killing off the Doctor!), causing some controversy in fandom. He was one of the stars of the BBC2 sci-fi comedy Hyperdrive, guest starred in an episode of the 21st century revival of Red Dwarf, and has more recently been the voice of Penfold in the revived Danger Mouse series and appeared as Camello in Game Of Thrones.
