Man From Atlantis III: Killer Spores

Man From AtlantisMark Harris participates in an emergency mission to retrieve a space probe splashing down after a three-year mission. But when it hits water, it emits a screaming sound that affects Mark the most; when he swims out to it, he describes objects like blue coins covering the probe. Mark comes into contact with one of the blue objects and begins behaving strangely, experiencing brief periods of what humans would describe as madness. He then begins describing life forms that have come to Earth aboard the space probe…but only by regaining his senses can Mark help them leave again.

Rogues, Rebels And Robots

Star WarsEn route to Alderaan in the Millennium Falcon, Ben begins Luke’s training in the ways of the Force, starting with basic lightsaber technique and awareness of the Force. Despite Han’s teasing, Luke practices until he’s able to fend off the attacks of a remote drone while blinded by the blast shield of a flight helmet. But this small victory is short lived as Ben senses something terrible, a cataclysmic disruption of the Force. When the Falcon comes out of hyperspace, Han finds he’s arrived not at Alderaan, but in a dense asteroid field – and despite the fact that the ship has arrived at the right coordinates, there’s no planet to be found. A lone Imperial TIE fighter appears, and Han gives chase – unaware that the pursuit will lead him into the jaws of the Death Star itself.

The Forsaken

Star Trek: Deep Space NineStardate 46925.1: A handful of Federation ambassadors boards Deep Space 9 on a fact-finding mission – one which is failing to get off the ground since the delegates seem unable to cope with the fact that the station isn’t exactly a proper Federation starbase. Among the delegates is Lwaxana Troi, who becomes enamoured of Odo after he retrieves a stolen item of hers from a thief at Quark’s bar. As she begins scheming to snare the constable, a small probe emerges from the wormhole, and to O’Brien’s surprise, the station computer actually works well enough for once to download information from the probe. The probe’s effect on the station computer is inexplicable, including stranding Odo in a stuck turbolift with Lwaxana Troi…

Season 1 Sliders

The Luck Of The Draw

SlidersOn an idyllic world where population control is not the problem that it is on their Earth, Quinn and the others arrive and find a moment to relax. Wade begins thinking about staying in this world despite Quinn’s misgivings. When she enters a lottery and wins, Wade feels she’s found a good stopping place – and, Quinn discovers, so does the government. The lottery awards its winners all their hearts’ desires for 24 hours before euthanizing them to control the population. Rembrandt falls for one of Wade’s fellow winners, and Wade herself becomes attracted to another “lucky” individual. They each reveal to their newfound friends that there is a means of escape by sliding, but Quinn – perhaps jealous of Wade’s blossoming romance with Ryan – can’t guarantee that the wormhole from one dimension to another can carry more than four people. When the police come to arrest Rembrandt for the “pro-life” offense of trying to dissuade a lottery winner from her ultimate goal, the others break him out and run for their lives with Wade’s new heartthrob. Quinn’s fears about the stability of the wormhole may prove unfounded when it appears that it only has to deposit four living subjects to their next destination as Quinn takes a bullet from the pursuing police.

Jeremiah Season 1

The Touch

JeremiahJeremiah and Kurdy follow up on leads about the town of Mayfair – very troubling leads, which they discover are well founded. The town is littered with dead bodies, and no apparent signs of survivors. They travel to a nearby community whose leader, Stenn, has set down an ultra-puritanical code of laws forbidding any two people to make physical contact. Any outsiders – such as Jeremiah and Kurdy – are regarded with extreme suspicion. Jeremiah discovers first-handy that there is a horrifying link to two lingering questions: what happened to the people of Mayfair, and what happens if someone breaks the law and touches another human being?

Lost Season 2

Three Minutes

LostFlashback: Michael communicates with Walt before leaving the bunker. He is soon captured by the Others. When Mr. Friendly confronts Jack, Locke, and Sawyer and trades them Kate for their guns, Alex asks Michael if Claire and the baby are OK. Michael is brought to a camp of the Others, where a woman named Ms. Klugh asks him about Walt’s past. Since Michael missed almost all of it, he can not answer. But after more than a week, Klugh makes him an offer. If he helps rescue one of them, and brings Sawyer, Kate, Jack, and Hurley to a designated spot, Michael and Walt will be freed. As incentive, Klugh allows Michael to see Walt for three minutes.

The Island: Locke tries to convince Eko not to push the button, but Eko is determined. So determined, in fact, that he stops building the church, to Charlie’s chagrin. Michael tries to organize a group to rescue Walt, but he doesn’t respond very well to suggestions from the others. This raises Sayid’s suspicions, which he shares with Jack. Other castaways are happy to see Michael’s return, then shocked to discover that they must bury two more of their own. Jack and Sawyer briefly discuss their relationships with kate and Ana Lucia while preparing to go with Michael. At the funeral, Hurley’s grief drives him to join the group as well. The team is going . . . on Michael’s terms.

Invasion

The Last Wave Goodbye

InvasionThe hurricane strikes Homestead, and Szura’s master plan goes into effect – people seeking shelter from the storm are forced into the water as the lights descend, providing the raw material for more hybrids. Larkin, Jesse and Rose try to escape the hybrids posing as the National Guard, and then Sheriff Underlay and Russell arrive, guns blazing, taking down as many of the hybrids as they can until backup arrives in the form of the Air Force, who has been called in by Dave and Deputy Sirk. Szura escapes, taking the pregnant hybrid women – and Mariel – with him, to an undisclosed location; his hybrid soldiers, along with Underlay, are rounded up and held for questioning. Once released, Underlay joins Russell to mount a rescue mission to save Mariel, but once she’s safe, Underlay’s next mission is to capture or kill Szura. When Russell tries to get Mariel to safety, she refuses to leave the pregnant hybrids. Even when cornered and mortally wounded, Szura has no doubt that the hybrids will take over, and dies with that promise on his lips. Jesse’s friend Brett, along with another boy from the school, take Larkin and Dave hostage, intending to use them as bait to trap and kill Underlay; Larkin manages to get word to Sirk. Jesse, Rose, Sirk and Kira hide out in the locked room at Underlay’s house, where Sirk hopes to end the hostage situation, but instead becomes a hostage himself. Jesse manages to alert Underlay to the situation just before Brett finds the secret room. Unaware of this, Russell and Mariel transport some of the pregnant hybrids to the water, despite Russell’s fear that allowing them to give birth may give rise to something even worse than Szura or his half-human, half-alien hybrids. Underlay takes back his house, but Larkin is shot in the ensuing firefight. In a last-ditch effort to save her life, Underlay takes Larkin to the water – becoming a hybrid may be her only chance.

Notes: Invasion was cancelled by ABC mere days before its season finale premiered. Though there were hopes that it would be picked up by the CW – a new network formed jointly by Viacom/Paramount/CBS and Warner Bros., the studio that produced Invasion – the show did not appear on the CW’s first schedule. As such, the cliffhanger of whether or not Larkin dies, or become a hybrid and lives, is left unresolved.

Doctor Who New Series Season 04

The Unicorn And The Wasp

Doctor WhoThe TARDIS brings the Doctor and Donna to the 1920s, to an ordinary cocktail party with an extraordinary guest – murder mystery author Agatha Christie. And right on cue, a murder takes place at the party, and the Doctor tries to enlist the famed writer’s help in narrowing down a list of suspects whose alibis have no witness to back them up. Donna searches for clues, and discovers quite a big one – a huge wasp at least as big as a human being. She narrowly avoids its deadly stinger, and at the same time, a jewel thief is at large in the house. But is the killer related to the jewel thief…or the wasp? And after solving a mystery whose perpetrator is not of this Earth, will Agatha Christie ever be the same again?

Notes: Guest star Christopher Benjamin appeared in two much-loved adventures from classic Doctor Who, the 1970 Jon Pertwee epic Inferno, in which he played well-meaning bureaucrat Sir Keith Gold, and 1977’s Talons Of Weng-Chiang, in which he guest starred as irrepressible showman Henry Gordon Jago – a character who, with Talons sidekick Professor Litefoot, was briefly considered a candidate for an early Doctor Who spinoff which never – if you’ll pardon the pun – materialized. (Jago & Litefoot’s long-overdue spinoff was finally produced in audio form by Big Finish.) Agatha Christie’s amnesiac interlude actually happened, though generally history doesn’t record the whole giant wasp incident in connection with that.
