Enterprise Season 02 Star Trek

Stigma

Star Trek: EnterpriseDuring a stopover near a medical conference, Dr. Phlox gets two unusual opportunities. First, a reunion with one of his three wives, Feezal, gives him the chance to catch up on family matters. But more pressing in Phlox’s mind is the opportunity to find out everything he can from a Vulcan delegation to the conference about a terminal neurological disease. Considered a taboo subject, and a disease suffered only by a group of Vulcans ostracized by the rest of their society, the disease is also a closely-held secret, and Phlox is able to find very little. When he presses, the Vulcans wonder why his curiosity is so keen. Could it be that the Enterprise’s only Vulcan crew member is facing a painful death due to this disorder?

Distractions

HeroesWorried that Peter is telling the truth about being the cause of New York City’s impending destruction, Claude begins the task of trying to teach the younger man to use his powers at will instead of by accident – even if the lesson kills him. Claire finally works up the nerve to visit her biological mother, and discovers that her mother has an unusual ability of her own, but very little to say about Claire’s real father. After locking Mr. Bennet in the cell that was meant for him, Sylar goes to Bennet’s house to lay in wait for Claire. Hiro confronts his own father, who demands that he return to Japan to assume his rightful place as the heir to the family business. But despite the pressure, Hiro instead maneuvers his sister into that position, freeing himself up to continue his quest. When Bennet escapes the cell and returns home, he shoots Sylar, but Sylar still escapes. After another incident where her destructive personality comes out, Niki Sanders is miraculously set free, though it’s made clear that she’ll be expected to repay Linderman for making it possible.

Caprica

Reins Of A Waterfall

CapricaAmanda Graystone’s public confession that she has discovered that her late daughter was a member of a monotheist extremist group called Soldiers of the One has wide-ranging effects. Graystone Industries’ stock plummets, and Amanda herself resigns from her position as a doctor to stay out of the public eye. Daniel Graystone fails to stay out of the public eye, and as a result, the next time he runs into Joseph and Sam Adama, he barely walks away from that meeting in one piece. With the Graystones distracted, Zoe – from the vantage point of her Cylon body – creates a way for her program to re-enter the virtual world. But it would seem that more people are aware of Zoe’s avatar than she expected… and more people are making unpleasant plans for Zoe’s father than he may realize.

Notes: A number of genre guest stars appear in this episode, from Peter Wingfield (Methos from the Highlander TV series) to Teryl Rothery (Stargate SG-1’s Dr. Fraiser) to former recurring Galactica guest star Luciana Carro, who appeared on Caprica’s parent series as hotshot pilot Louann “Kat” Katraine, who flew her last viper mission in 2006’s The Passage. It’s not known if her character, a PR expert hired to help Graystone Industries recover from a backlash of public opinion, is intended to be an ancestor of Kat’s. Patton Oswalt, a veteran of the sitcom The King Of Queens, joins the show’s recurring cast as an obnoxious late-night TV comedian.
