A rough edit (still needs minor audio editing/EQ work) of “The Master” portion of my every-episode-of-Doctor-Who mashup project. This part of the project is very close to being locked in – it’s pretty good stuff. It’s largely the same clips that appeared in the original, with the addition of a few scenes from The End Of Time Part 1 and a few extended bits and bobs that helped clarify his character. The biggest change here was not using the “drum-beat-in-the-Master’s-head” music from the new series; instead I used music from the final story of the original series, Survival, which also concerned the Master and seemed a bit scarier. I love it about 100% more with this music – see if you do too. I did, however, still start out with Dudley Simpson’s original theme from the Master’s first appearances in 1971. This segment also demonstrates how “chapter titles” will be handled in the new version of the project: the titles will go through the various opening title styles that the show has had, right down to the appropriate “episode title” typestyles. And the next portion of the show I’ll be tackling? Well, that hint is at the end of the Master’s segment…
