...And Little E Makes 3 Should We Talk About The Weather?

The end of a week

Was anyone watching the live coverage of the ‘Bama/Mississippi game tonight when the tornado slid right past the stadium? That was fun. I think that was a very, very, very, very close call – a thin line between a basketball game and an Irwin Allen disaster flick. And that’s not something I say very often. (The Hogs beating Vandy wasn’t bad either, but hey, let’s put our cards on the table – it didn’t have God kicking the crap out of the building in overtime. That’s excitement. Trust me, I’ve been to see the stage musical and gotten autographs.) Hopefully the folks I know in/around Atlanta like Dire51 and Atarigirl are OK.

Sorry for the lack of baby pix lately – I actually got ready to take some today, but the little guy kept urping on himself. He went through no fewer than six outfits today.

There’s more to tell, but there’s also a weatherman on TV talking about rotating thunderstorms heading kinda like toward-my-house so maybe I better go. 😯… Read more

Let the scooting begin

Looks like I’m gonna have to start vacuuming on a regular basis – Evan managed his first bit of quasi-crawling this afternoon while I was giving him some “tummy time” on one of his playmats on the floor. I’ve got a little bit of time, though – it took an enormous amount of effort on his part to move a few inches. I picked him up and hugged him and tickled him until I got a giggle, and then put him back down for more high-octane crawling action, to which his response in baby-ese sounded like it must surely be “Hey! Slave boy! O ye of little hair upon thine head! Pick me up again and carry me around! Just how lazy are you!?” when translated into English. His second attempt, though valiant, almost resulted in an ass-over-teakettles somersault.

Sorry about the lack of recent updates. I’ve had way too much stuff going on lately, baby-oriented or not.… Read more

Delicious cheese and fine whines

The weather tonight is totally bizarre – we’re under a tornado watch now, with plenty of bad stuff headed this way, and we’re under a winter storm watch at the same time, because after the storms blast through and rip off everyone’s roof, the temperature’s going to drop like a rock and it’ll start snowing. If there’s ever a time I’m glad to not still be working in TV, this is it – this is kind of like the Perfect Storm for broadcast purposes: a 24-48 hour period where directors, weather talent, camera crew, etc. will be stuck at the station. I can think of much better ways to spend my Sunday night, thanks, like holding Evan’s hand until he falls asleep. It’s good to be daddy. And speaking of that… … Read more

One (if not more) of those weeks

Sorry for the lack of updates recently. (It’s not entirely my fault – it kinda helps for the site to be up so I can update it. Apparently theLogBook’s web hosting service has had a hell of a week too.) It’s been a bit of a rough week, the kind that you just don’t expect to have when “all” you have to do is hang out with an infant most of the time. Hopefully, there’s light at the end of the tunnel – and hopefully it’s not a UFO waiting to probe me or something. I hate that.

I’ll have a full review soonish, but I’ve been listening to Frank Klepacki’s Universe At War game soundtrack a lot lately, and it’s a winner. The end titles alone are just epic. This guy needs a movie to score – the kind with lots of explosions (and probably mecha) – stat. I’ve also been listening to an inordinate amount of ELO lately – just musical comfort food. “All Over The World” is kinda like the best song ever right now.

Anyway, I’ll hush up about all that for the moment. If you guys wanted real emo, you’d be watching UHF. But what you really want…are baby and kitty pics. Admit it. … Read more

Downtime

Before anyone asks, I don’t know why my site’s been down so much for the past week either. I’ve put a query in to my web hosting service, but they seem more interested in trying to convince you that your customer service requests are being answered by some hottie wearing a humongous 1990s-style hands-free headset than in making it easy to figure out how to send them a query. Hooray for cheap stock photography! Hopefully the issue will resolve itself soon.

Because I know you people have been missing out on the baby-and-kitty pics, so I now present: Once Upon An Obi! … Read more
