Enough with the planes crashing into volcanoes. Today’s the first anniversary of the day we adopted Gabby!
Of course, with recent events in mind, we’re pretty lucky to have a G-Dawg around to celebrate. That makes it doubly sweet (see also: the picture above of Xena being ridiculously protective of her recuperating little sister). Today’s a good day to let the dogs in to hang out inside and soak up some love and dog treats anyway; the wind is positively howling.
Seriously, though, there’s been a recent uptick in visits to the blawg because the aforementioned planes-crashing-into-volcanoes bit seemed to have gotten some love in the blogosphere. Which, to be honest, surprised the hell out of me: I’d just ingested so much information on that topic that I thought I’d try to set my fixation aside by writing about it and getting it out of my system. And after that, I just kinda presumed that I’d be going back to posting pictures of my pets and my kid – you know, the stuff I normally do with my blog that they always tell you never to do with your blog.
I had to admit that this seemed like it was potentially a bit of a letdown. Even to me. A little bit of blogosphere lovin’ is kind of addictive. It’s like there’s a little chunk of the ‘net that wants to close the curtains and play my blog some Barry White and… well, you don’t want to know what happens next. Little blogs have to come from somewhere.
So here’s the bargain I’ll try to keep up on my end. There’s really no reason why I shouldn’t be blogging every day. It’s not as if I don’t have the time (though, some days, I really don’t – stay-at-home daddification is more all-consuming than you might expect). It won’t always be about plane crashes (how morose!) and it won’t always be about volcanoes (well…), but sheesh, I’ve got stuff to ramble about. I’ve just got to have the discipline – in between writing daily stuff for theLogBook.com and daily work on the book(s) (man, this commitment is sounding crazier by the second) – to try to do some daily stuff for Scribblings too.
And yeah, sometimes it’s gonna be a picture of the dogs. That’s okay too. I love my dogs. I love my cats too. Cats are great with just the right marinade. Maybe I’ll just do a whole week where I post everything in haiku or do my own rage comics.
I also kinda love my blog and I’ve been guilty of neglecting it, but only because it’s more important not to neglect the cats and the dogs and the kid and all the housework.
I’ve already got some articles written into the middle of next week as of right now. Some are serious, some are fall-down funny, some are slap-you-upside-the-head-to-see-if-you’re-thinking. Some of them are, frankly, cartoons. Sorry, none of them are about doomed airliners.
We’ll see how long I can keep this up. (That’s what she said.)
