In the old arcade game Turtles, you’re supposed to pick up baby turtles and carry them someplace safe.
On the way home from picking up dog food this afternoon, me and Little E saw a little turtle crossing the road. Keep in mind, this is the road where people take a blind corner so fast that I’m scared to let my kid play in the yard (and I worry about anyone living in the pasture too). Do I think someone’s going to stop for a little turtle? Aw shell no.
But we did.
I have no idea if this turtle has any aspirations to be a ninja, but we helped it safely get across the road into our yard. (Don’t thank me yet, turtle. You haven’t met the dog yet. She’ll freak out if she sees you moving. And watch out for the horse.)
Welcome to the herd, little amphibian. If you figure out what to eat (tip: if you want to be a little organic Roomba and eat down my tall grass in slo-mo, we will be friends for a long time) and how to coexist with the other critters here, we might just name you.
Oh, and stay out of the road. The drivers in this particular Frogger LARP are nuckin’ futz.
