Are we not men? We’re Kasatochi!

Glitchcon 2013

Glitchcon has come and gone again, and for the second year running, I gotta say, man, is this ever a neat little show. Except that there’s nothing little about it. This year’s show moved to the Springdale Holiday Inn, which is a really nifty space – the artists’ area (where I had a table for theLogBook.com) was in the atrium, and there were several panel rooms, gaming rooms and a video room. It was a really classy space to be occupying. I’m totally cool if they want to stay with this venue for a while.

The first order of business, of course, was to haul in my somewhat modest setup and… well… set it up. … Read more

Kasatochi: ’90s Expansion Pack

KasatochiI think I’ve forgotten to Kasatochi everybody at any point in the past seven days. To make up for it, here’s a larger-than-usual EP celebrating that most wildly uneven and frequently banal decade of music… even though I’d like to think I got that decade whittled down to its best or most bizarre examples. Downlaod it for free and you can be the judge of that. … Read more

The flyer that never flew

After pricing color printing locally, I prepared this one-sheet wonder handout for this year’s convention season to advertise current and upcoming products and projects at theLogBook.com. I was very pleased with it. The place I got my prices from hemmed and hawed and stared at me sternly and said “It’d use too much ink, we’d have to charge you extra.” Since this was a completely new unannounced wrinkle to their pricing structure, they didn’t get my business… but I also didn’t get my toner-murdering one-sheets. So here you go – one apparently unprintable sheet describing what the site and its stuff are about.

Admit it, you’ve always wanted to see a light cycle blasting out of the TARDIS, the Enterprise coming out of a Babylon 5 jumpgate, and Serenity flying in formation with a Space: 1999 Eagle too.

I’ve already worked up a different, entirely B&W design, to be printed up in time for this year’s conventions… and to be printed by a business that doesn’t make unannounced “alterations” to its rate card. But it’s just not as in-your-face colorful as this one was – it’s a bit tame by comparison.… Read more

Konsplosion konfirmed!

KonsplosionI’m confirmed as a panelist at Konsplosion, this September in Fort Smith, Arkansas. The scheduling here is a bit tricky: I’ve been committed to this year’s OVGE since… well… last year’s OVGE. This year’s OVGE is the tenth anniversary show, the tables are already reserved, and I can’t really not go.

So the trick here is this: Konsplosion runs September 20th through 22nd. I will do three panels – probably back to back! – on the 22nd: Doctor Who 50th Anniversary, Brit Sci-Fi that isn’t Doctor Who, and the Early History of Video Games. I will have my books and DVDs there to sell/sign between panels. (The books and DVDs will also be available at OVGE the day before.)

I will not have a table at Konsplosion, but my good friends at the Facebook group River Valley Time Lords will have one. Basically, if you’re anywhere in the western half of Arkansas and you like time traveling police boxes, you probably need to be joining that group rightaboutnowish. Big Things are being planned in this area. This area needs cool geeky stuff, and I’m proud to have even a small hand in helping to make some of that stuff happen.

Anyway, that’s the update. Stay tuned!… Read more

Approaching Planet Kasatochi…

KasatochiI’ve been meaning to post this for a few days, and just kept forgetting. The latest Kasatochi EP is a classic – no, seriously, classical. For your lo-res, lo-fi solar-system-exploring enjoyment, Kasatochi proudly presents the entirety of Holst’s The Planets. As chiptunes.

There are two different mixes of Neptune, The Mystic because I couldn’t figure out which one I liked best. I think Neptune, The Mystic is the soul of The Planets, and is quite simply one of the best and most beautiful pieces of music ever written. It’s kind of like an aural religious experience. So surely it couldn’t hurt to have Neptune times two, right?

...And Little E Makes 3 Funny Stuff

…and the Man with the Yellow Hat couldn’t make bail.

Samuel L. Bronkowitz presents...Little E has a Curious George book in which George finds himself in a dunk tank after causing both hijinks and shennanigans at a charity pancake breakfast.

Except that daddy was really tired and George wound up in the drunk tank. That’s a little hard to explain, and I laughed my ass off for the rest of the story without succumbing to the temptation to explain how George keeps a hip flask of a little somethin’ somethin’ to wash down all those pancakes, and was now over the legal limit.

I guess you had to be there. Always read with your child, folks – great moments in parenting!… Read more
