After the collections of Star Trek and Star Wars music, this was pretty much inevitable, wasn’t it? This collection includes musical tributes to the world’s longest-running sci-fi series, taking in themes from both the classic and new series. In fact, it’s not unusual to hear themes from both ends of the spectrum within the same track. And as always, it’s lovingly turned into NES-style chipmusic – a real trip back in time. What if there had been an awesome 8-bit Doctor Who game, and this was the music from it?

At this time, there are probably 5-6 more Kasatochi releases to go before this phase of the experiment ends; it’s been a fun summer fling, but I have lots of other stuff I’ve gotta do, and – this is the really important bit – Kasatochi has always been a pre-production part of a much larger project. A lot of the music that Kasatochi has done has been carefully selected for a reason, to support this other project. Kasatochi isn’t going to sleep forever, but after the end of this summer the releases will be a lot more sporadic – maybe one every month or two months, we’ll see. After all, an ongoing project has evolving requirements… and this has been a lot of fun.
