Arrow: Pilot
The first episode of Arrow, a modern-day reboot of DC Comics’ Green Arrow superhero, premieres on the CW, starring Stephen Amell. The series has been developed for TV by Greg Berlanti, creator of past TV successes including Everwood and Eli Stone, and will lead to a string of successful series developed by Berlanti around popular DC characters, which will also lead to a successful “shared universe” of TV comics adaptations frequently referred to by fans as the Arrowverse.

Asylum Of The Daleks opens the seventh season of the revived show, and features a surprising first appearance by new series regular Jenna-Louise Coleman, whose new companion character was originally announced as debuting in the 2012 Christmas special. (The most surprising thing about this is that preview audiences keep this secret from the entire internet for several weeks.)

The internet-based fan film Star Trek: Phase II releases a short vignette episode, Going Boldly, introducing the series’ new Captain Kirk, actor Brian Gross.

The internet-based fan film Star Trek: Phase II releases its eighth full-length episode, The Child, based on the original version of a Star Trek: Phase II story written in the 1970s (which was eventually hurriedly recycled into TNG’s second season finale after the 1988 Writers’ Guild strike). Jon Povill, the original co-writer of the 1970s script, directs.
Yamato 2199: Iscandar’s Envoy
Japanese cable channel Family Gekijo airs the first episode of Space Battleship Yamato 2199, a modernized remake of the 1970s series Space Battleship Yamato. The series’ director is Yutaka Izubuchi (Macross, Rahxephon, Escaflowne, Record of Lodoss War). The remainder of the episodes are released straight to DVD, but are not broadcast on television until 2013.
