Logan's SanctuaryThe CD Logan’s Sanctuary is released, a mostly-instrumental album billed as the soundtrack to a Logan’s Run sequel that was never filmed (though neither the title, nor the storyline in the liner notes booklet, corresponds to either of the sequel novels written by William F. Nolan). The album is the combination of the talents of Brian Reitzell and former Jellyfish member Roger Joseph Manning Jr.; fellow ex-Jellyfish member Jason Falkner also contributes.

The Omega Man soundtrack

The Omega ManFilm Score Monthly releases a limited edition CD of the soundtrack from the 1971 Charlton Heston science fiction movie The Omega Man, whose music was composed by Ron Grainer (best known for his UK TV themes, such as Doctor Who and The Prisoner). The limited pressing of 3,000 copies sells out in record time; an unlimited pressing with slightly different content will be re-released by FSM’s Retrograde Records label in 2008.

Babylon 5Christopher Franke’s fourth and final wave of “episodic” soundtracks from the series Babylon 5 is released by Sonic Images Records. Individual CDs with the complete scores from the episodes Falling Toward Apotheosis, Darkness Ascending, Objects At Rest and the series finale Sleeping In Light are released. The score from the episode And The Rock Cried Out, No Hiding Place also becomes available, but only through Babylon 5 Magazine; a general release follows in 2001.

Star Trek: The Motion Picture soundtrack

Star Trek: The Motion PictureSony Records releases a 2-CD set featuring Jerry Goldsmith’s soundtrack from Star Trek: The Motion Picture, now with a few additional tracks. The second disc is not part of the soundtrack, but instead provides the first-ever CD pressing of the 1976 spoken-word album Inside Star Trek, featuring recorded live appearances by Gene Roddenberry, William Shatner, Isaac Asimov and others. This set is billed as the “20th anniversary edition” of the soundtrack.
