The Black Hole soundtrack
Soundtrack specialty label Intrada releases one of the most-requested “holy grails” in the history of the hobby of soundtrack collecting, an official CD release of John Barry’s soundtrack from the 1979 Disney science fiction movie The Black Hole. Presented in its entirety for the first time, the release is the product of years of work to recover and copy the original session tapes, which were originally recorded on a now-obscure digital tape format.

Patrick Doyle’s soundtrack from the movie Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes is released on Varese Sarabande Records.
Star Trek: TNG Collection Vol. 1 soundtrack
Soundtrack specialty label La-La Land Records releases a limited edition 3-CD set featuring selections from various Star Trek: The Next Generation episode soundtracks. With the exception of two short tracks, none of the music on this set – which spans the entire seven-year run of the series – has been released before. Music by Dennis McCarthy, Jay Chattaway, John Debney, Don Davis and Fred Steiner is included.
Another Earth soundtrack
Milan Records releases the soundtrack from the movie Another Earth, with music by electronica group Fall On Your Sword (co-founded by LCD Soundsystem’s Phil Mossman).
Doctor Who: A Christmas Carol soundtrack
Silva Screen Records releases Murray Gold’s soundtrack music from the 2010 Doctor Who Christmas special, A Christmas Carol. This is the first time in the revived series that a single episode has gotten an individual soundtrack release; Katherine Jenkins’ song “Abigail’s Song (Silence Is All You Know)” is inclucded.
Star Trek V soundtrack
Soundtrack specialty label La-La Land Records releases a limited edition 2-CD set featuring – for the first time – the entirety of Jerry Goldsmith’s soundtrack from Star Trek V: The Final Frontier. For the first time, the complete score is presented, including alternate takes and arrangements. The limited edition of 5,000 sells out in four months, and the album later gets an unlimited reissue with slightly different cover artwork on the Intrada label.
Doctor Who Series 5 soundtrack
Silva Screen Records releases a 2-CD set of Murray Gold’s soundtrack music from the 2010 season of Doctor Who. This release continues the double-disc format of the 2009 specials soundtrack, and includes most of the music recorded for the entire fifth season.
Human Target soundtrack
La-La Land Records releases a 3-CD set of Bear McCreary’s soundtrack from the Fox action series Human Target.
Star Trek: TNG – The Ron Jones Project
Film Score Monthly releases Star Trek: The Next Generation: The Ron Jones Project, a mammoth 14-CD box set containing nearly all of the episode scores Ron Jones scored during the first four seasons of the series. The score conspicuous by its absence is the fan favorite The Best Of Both Worlds, originally released by GNP Crescendo in 1991 and contractually locked to that label. Jones’ scores for the computer games Starfleet Command and Starfleet Academy are also included, along with unused cues from TNG.
Doctor Who: Series 4 Specials soundtrack
Silva Screen Records releases a 2-CD set of Murray Gold’s soundtrack music from the 2009 Doctor Who specials. For the first time, a Doctor Who soundtrack from the new series spans two discs, presenting most of the music recorded for David Tennant’s final five special episodes.
SpaceCamp soundtrack
Soundtrack specialty label Intrada issues a new limited edition release of John Williams’ soundtrack from the 1986 movie SpaceCamp. Available for many years only as an incredibly expensive import from a Japanese label, this is the first official US CD pressing, and quickly sells out.
The Lone Gunmen / Harsh Realm OST
La-La Land Records releases a CD of selections from Mark Snow’s soundtrack from the X-Files spinoff The Lone Gunmen. Selections from another Chris Carter series, Harsh Realm, are also included.
Krull soundtrack
La-La Land Records releases a 2-CD set of James Horner’s complete score from the 1984 fantasy movie Krull. The release is timed to coincide with the 2010 San Diego Comic-Con.
Star Trek soundtrack
Varese Sarabande releases an expanded 2-CD edition of Michael Giacchino’s soundtrack from the 2009 Star Trek reboot movie, presenting the movie’s full score for the first time.
Cloak & Dagger soundtrack
Soundtrack specialty label Intrada releases Australian composer Brian May’s soundtrack from the 1984 movie Cloak & Dagger. This is the movie’s first soundtrack release.
Star Trek III soundtrack
Film Score Monthly releases an expanded 2-CD edition of James Horner’s soundtrack from Star Trek III: The Search For Spock, presenting the movie’s full score for the first time.
Independence Day soundtrack
La-La Land Records releases a 2-CD set of David Arnold’s complete score from the 1996 science fiction blockbuster Independence Day.

Escape From The Music Of The Apes
Varese Sarabande releases a limited edition CD of the soundtrack from the 1971 science fiction sequel Escape From The Planet Of The Apes, the third movie in the series and the second to be scored by Jerry Goldsmith (this time in an unexpectedly jazzy style). As it is also the only unreleased score from a Planet Of The Apes movie, it sells out quickly.
Battlestar Galactica Season 4 soundtrack
La-La Land Records releases Bear McCreary’s soundtrack from the fourth season of Syfy’s Battlestar Galactica reboot. The two-disc set covers much of the fourth season’s highlights on the first disc, with the entirety of the second CD containing music from the three-hour series finale, Daybreak.
