La-La Land Records releases the four-CD Star Trek: The 50th Anniversary Collection soundtrack box set primarily featuring music from the original series and The Next Generation, along with new works by Ron Jones and the premiere of a reconstructed selection of music from the 1970s Star Trek animated series.
Ron Glass, actor, dies
Actor Ron Glass, known for being a cast member of the 1970s/80s sitcom Barney Miller and for his stint on the short-lived but much-loved science fiction series Firefly, dies at the age of 71. He had reprised the role of Book in the Firefly sequel film Serenity, as well as in the multiplayer computer game Firefly Online, in addition to continuing to make guest appearances on such TV series as CSI, Agents Of SHIELD, and Major Crimes.

Babylon 5: Sleeping In Light
Cable channel TNT premieres the 110th and final episode of J. Michael Straczynski’s science fiction series Babylon 5. Claudia Christian returns as Ivanova in an episode filmed before the actress allowed her contract to lapse in 1997 (at a time when it appeared that Babylon 5 would end with its fourth season). Though further TV movies and direct-to-video movies are produced, as well as the spinoff series Crusade, this is the end of the main Babylon 5 storyline, and also marks the directorial debut of series creator J. Michael Straczynski.

The Ewok Adventure
ABC airs the Lucasfilm TV movie The Ewok Adventure, starring Eric Walker, Warwick Davis, Fionnula Flanagan, and Aubree Miller. Written by veteran animation writer Bob Carrau and directed by John Korty (The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman), this is the first live-action TV set in the Star Wars universe since the infamous 1978 Star Wars Holiday Special. The movie will become known by the alternate title Ewoks: Caravan of Courage outside of the United States.
Fantasy
Better known for making jukeboxes and speakers, Rock-Ola continues trying to make inroads into the video game industry by releasing Fantasy in the United States. The arcade game, originated in Japan by SNK, is one of the very first coin-op games to allow players to insert additional coins to continue from the location of their previous game’s end within a set amount of time. With several screens requiring players to develop completely different strategies on the fly, Fantasy doesn’t gain much of a following; many arcade operators gut and convert their Fantasy machines into other games. (This is your webmaster’s all-time favorite arcade game.)

1975’s other international space mission
The 1972 Space Cooperation Agreement, whose most obvious effect is the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project earlier in the year, bears more fruit in the form of the first unmanned international research mission. American experiments are launched aboard a Soviet Cosmos satellite for the first time, along with experiment packages prepared by French, Czech, Polish, Romanian, and Hungarian scientists. Cosmos 782, the third “Biocosmos” flight, ends after 19 days, with the experiments landed safely in Siberia at the conclusion of the flight.

The tenth episode of the British comedy series Robert’s Robots airs on ITV licensee Thames Television, starring John Clive (A Clockwork Orange, Yellow Submarine) as eccentric inventor Robert Sommerby and Nigel Pegram as one of his robot creations.
